The core band formed in August 2015 by Leonidas and Angelos and came to a full line-up by October of the same year. Consisting of members no strangers to the scene nor the music, the quartet is driven by no other purpose than music itself. Influenced by all that can be listened to, Arkhangelsk is pacing slowly, yet surely, through Black alleys that dictate a path towards the majestic void. Probably... Black metal is involved anyhow.

Arkhangelsk concluded the process of mixing and mastering his debut EP (recorded by some very patient men in Zero Gravity, Bree and Growl Studios respectively, mixed and mastered in Stelthsound Studios up north), and searched for some unwise collective to release the damn thing. We ended up releasing it ourselves because reasons. Said EP consisted of 3 original tracks and a cover of Dissection's "Where Dead Angels Lie".

Since September of 2016 the band has undergone changes in the line-up, recruiting Vasilis as second guitar, moving Vangelis from guitars to drums only to be replaced by Giorgos on February 2019.

Arkhangelsk appeared for the first time on October 29th 2017 in Athens, Greece as part of the 4th edition of Extreme Assault Festival, in Veghel Blackfest 2018 (NL) headlined by Rotting Christ and Carach Angren and on October 2018 on the Lords of the Void Monuments event supporting Kawir.

Newer songs are quite different from the EP's material style-wise, ranging from Mgla, Batushka and Paradise Lost to ISIS, Pelican and Harakiri For The Sky, all while maintaining a dark, brooding and compelling theme. Recordings for Arkhangelsk's first full length album started on October 2018 and were concluded a little before the last day of February 2019.
